Ivet Corvea Interview by Dean Sills

ivet2Ivet Corvea Interview by Dean Sills

Hello Ivet, welcome to UK Horror Scene, it’s a real honour to talk to

you about your amazing career,so far.

Ok, let’s get started with the questions.

Q1) Ivet, you were born and raised in Pinar del Rio, Cuba. You moved to Florida with your family when you were just 9. Did your passion for performing begin when you lived on the Caribbean island or when you moved to the States?

My passion for acting did begin in Cuba, I was performing since I can remember in front of the whole neighborhood. We would do reenactments of popular TV shows, mostly just singing and dancing. Whatever we could get away with.

Q2) How did you get into acting especially in the horror genre?

I choose projects that interest me the most no matter what the genre is. I enjoy horror films because they can cross over to other types of genres. You can have a comedy/horror, dramatic/horror, action/horror, etc. You can get a little bit of everything in horror films.

ivet1Q3) What actor or actress inspires you the most?

I really admire Meryl Streep for both her prolific film library and her longevity in the business.

Q4) You have been labelled Cuba’s Scream Queen, thanks to your very awesome signature scream, stunning looks and a string of successful horror flicks. How proud are you of this achievement?

I am very grateful to be in such appreciated horror films. And look forward to many more…

Q5) Your film credits include Nude Nuns with Big Guns, Bloody Bloody Bible Camp plus many more along with your TV credits including They Live Among Us. Which have you enjoyed working on the most and why?

The film I enjoyed the most working on is one you didn’t mention, Run! Bitch Run!’. It was my first starring feature film and the character I play Marla was a really complex and layered . She wasn’t just a rapist or a killer or drug addict prostitute, she was also a women who took charge. She knew what she wanted and didn’t let anybody stand in her way. It was fun and challenging finding her emotional core and humanizing her.

ivet4Q6) Ivet, you have done some pretty shocking stuff on screen including masturbating on the toilet with a plunger in the horror movie “Run! Bitch Run!” What’s the most shocking thing you have done as an actress and how do you prepare for scenes like this?

The most shocking thing I’ve done, on screen, was when I played Mistress Charlotte in the film Nude Nuns With Big Guns. I had a scene where I had to flog a fully naked man, who was tied to a wall.

For scenes like that, you have to go ALL out… No judgment! Be the character and play their truth.

Q7) What would you consider to be the three main ingredients that you need to make a classic horror flick?

A deliciously evil monster, great kills and sympathetic victims. Take all three, mix them with some boobs and blood and you got a great recipe for classic horror.

ivet3Q8) You have worked with the director/Producer Joseph Guzman on a number of horror movies. What do you enjoy most about working with him?

The best thing about working with Joseph Guzman and everybody at Freak Show Entertainment is the caring and nurturing environment they provide for their actors. They are not afraid to let actors explore and play with a character. He truly understands the actors needs and is a great collaborator in finding the truth for a story.

Q9) What do you love to do when you are not filming?

I love keeping in touch with all my fans and supporters through social media. They are truly the ones that keep me going through tuff times and are there to congratulate me in the good. I really appreciate their support and I’m humbled by their love.

Q10) Finally, are you currently working on any new horror movies or any other film or TV projects which you can tell UKHS about?

I have two films coming out in 2014. ‘Down and Dangerous’ and ‘Pain is Beautiful’. Follow me on Facebook for release dates and new projects announcements.

ivet5Thank you, Ivet. It’s been a real joy talking to you.
