An Interview with Jason Wright by Dean Sills

jw1An Interview with Jason Wright by Dean Sills

Hello Jason and welcome to UK Horror Scene. Before we begin thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to talk to us.

UKHS Can you please tell us a little about yourself and your company Silent Studios?

JW – My name is Jason Wright and I am the CEO / Creative Director for Silent Studios. We are the only horror and gore company in the UK that covers all aspects of the horror industry from PR, Promotional, Photographic and Production.

UKHS – You specialise in extreme horror and gore, how and when did your love for Horror begin and what’s your favourite Horror movie?

JW – I have loved horror and gore from a very young age in fact I watched the ‘Evil Dead’ when I was 13. Recently I have watched the remake and although it is very good it doesn’t have the same feel as the original.

jw2UKHS – You have worked in the photography industry now for over 16 years, plus you have also become a movie director, actor, special effects artist and much more. What is your biggest achievement so far?

JW – As a company we have a lot of talented people that have joined us from around the world as well as myself. In the last two years we have been gifted to work with Resident Evil 6, Dead Island Riptide, Dead Rising 3, as well as many films and other events like our Zombie Weekend. So we are already getting a lot of exposure and we are working on so many horror related projects with big companies we just have no time to relax but at the end of the day the whole team love the excitement so we are all living the dream.

UKHS – I recently watched your short film ‘Sweet6teen‘ and really enjoyed it, well done! How did the project come about and did you enjoy directing this?

JW – ‘Sweet6teen’ was a creation from Silent Studios and yes I loved directing this amazing short and again showing that we can deliver a short on such a tight time frame as we had 6 hours to shoot it and only knew about the competition a week before it was to be submitted. We ended up coming somewhere in the top 10 so we were very happy and it was shown on the Horror channel all through October this year so again a great experience.

jw4UKHS – How did you get involved with ‘Blaze of Gory’ and did you enjoy directing your segment ‘Wraparound‘ and working with Emily Booth?

JW – The ‘Blaze of Gory’ segment ‘Wraparound’ was a great thing to direct and I was talking to David V.G. Davies who is behind the whole project about being involved and with other directors that we are friends with it seemed the perfect project to be involved in. Directing Emily Booth was a great experience and a pleasure. As well as being a good friend she is a great actress and we believe we have got a completely difference performance out of her then she has done before. We are all very excited about the full movie coming out in 2014.

UKHS What would you consider to be the three main ingredients that you need to make a classic horror flick?

JW – This would depend on the director but with Silent Studios we believe that if you can make the audience generally scared watching the movie you have done your job. So definitely cinematics, gore and great acting are three great ingredients but there are more.

jw3UKHSFinally, are you currently working on any other projects which you can tell UKHS about?

JW – At the moment we are working on a lot of projects but I can tell you about a few.

  1. TORTURE – full length feature film which is scheduled for release in 2014 and is definitely upping the gore level like never before so watch out for the essence trailer due out before Christmas.
  2. Zombie Weekend 3 – A zombie survival experience with a difference as we have a music festival combined with zombie survival in May 2014.
  3. Zombie Playground – first episode to be shot and released first quarter 2014 so all children zombies again doing something different.
  4. Contamination is out as our first novel on amazon in 2013 and we are doing a teaser film trailer for that in 2014 plus releasing our second novel which is still under wraps.

So if anyone would like to know more about us or hire our services please contact

UKHS – Thank you Jason. Good luck with all those and keep up the great work.
